During the semester, we organize club evenings every Thursday in the MensaBar. Besides, the IC also offers the language café “Café Multilingua”, different cooking as well as handcrafting workshops, interactive German courses, reading and a lot more.
Language Teaching Institute, SLI (Sprachlehrinstitut)
The Language Teaching Institute (SLI) at the University of Freiburg offers intensive German language courses at different levels as part of its summer and winter universities, which are geared towards preparing for the semester. These courses are paid and provide a solid linguistic foundation for your studies in Freiburg.
During the semester, German courses for Erasmus students are free, although spaces are limited (P-courses). More information about these and other offerings can be found on the website of the Language Teaching Institute. Additionally, semester courses in German are offered at reduced fees for students of the University of Freiburg (G-courses).
In tandem language learning, two individuals with different native languages work together to systematically learn from and with each other.
Buddy Program and more
The Buddy Program of the SWFR (Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald) was created for international students and for people who would like to support international students during their first time in Freiburg. Through the Buddy Program, they can find a buddy or become a buddy who supports international students, especially, but not only, after their arrival in Freiburg and helps them with everyday matters.
The Buddy Program does not focus on the language tandem. If you would just like to find a tandem partner, you can join the Tandem Platform of the SWFR or the Facebook group SWFR Tandem. Here anyone can search specifically for language tandem partners.
